Abstract work created during my MA that explores the relationship between photography and painting. By obsessively scratching and chemically treating the negatives, the malleability of photography is brought to the fore. The work evokes notions of memory and nostalgia as photography is the ultimate medium of remembrance; however, the viewers are invited to create their own personal associations. Nothing is more prevalent than colours, shapes and process. Abstraction and process become the main topic in their own right rather than being a purely aesthetic tool.
